Rising Rents In Arizona

Sheri Johnson • Feb 21, 2020
Phoenix seems to have a long standing reputation as a big city that is unusually affordable. Although I still believe it is more affordable than, say, Los Angeles, it’s a rapidly growing city at the same time. It’s a great place to call home, but you should definitely do some of your own research before a.) planning on moving because your apartment management company has raised your rent, or b.) moving here from out of state.

If you are local and considering moving because your rent is being increased, make sure you look into your options before making that decision. You may very well find that, although your rent is being raised, its still less than anything else out there.

Before making plans to relocate to the Valley, it would be wise to do some research regarding housing costs. Another thing to consider would be pay rates here. Wages here, in general, aren’t those of other big cities.

Phoenix is growing in population at an estimated 200 people per DAY! According to Rentjungle.com, the average rent in 2011 for a one bedroom in Phoenix was $618. Now, the average is $1,028. Sources say that a “livable wage” is almost $18 per hour. AZBigMedia claims Scottsdale has the highest rent at an average of $1,560 per month, with the lowest being in Glendale, at $1,026 per month.

Turn to Apartment & Home Solutions to help you make your transition quickly, easily, and efficiently. Our Agents are experts when it comes to all of the details involved in qualifying, location, availability, and the inside scoop on leasing specials throughout the Valley!

We look forward to working with you whether you’re looking to rent or buy! Its what we do!

At Apartment & Home Solutions, we work with a wide range of people. Some of our clients are first-time apartment hunters, while others have rented for years. If you are new to renting, there are some crucial questions to ask when looking at an apartment to make sure you understand just what is involved with the rental. While most people ask the basic question of what is the rent and how much is the security deposit, there are also other questions to ask when apartment hunting to help avoid unexpected financial costs in the future. The following are questions to ask a landlord before signing any contract or agreeing to rent the apartment: Utilities – Ask what utilities and services are covered in the rent and which are paid separately by the tenant. In some apartments, all utilities are covered, while in others, the tenant may pay electricity, heating and air conditioning, and electrical costs. Cable and WiFi services may also be separate or included. Parking – Parking can be costly in many big cities. Never assume that parking is included in any apartment rental without verifying this with the landlord. This is one of the essential rental questions if you have a vehicle. Amenities – Check out the different features of the building, including fitness centers, business centers, pools, dog parks, and all the amenities in the apartment. Verify they are part of your rental agreement. If you are wondering what to look for when touring the apartment, keep your eyes open for signs of damage or lack of repairs. The building should be well-maintained and clean, and offer the amenities and features you require. If you have a pet, confirm the specific type, size, and breed of pet is allowed. This is a must if you have a dog or an exotic pet. Let the team at Apartment & Home Solutions assist you in finding the perfect place to live. Call us at 602-404-3900 to discuss your apartment needs.

One of the most common questions we are asked is, “Can you rent an apartment with bad credit?” Many people we work with assume that applying for an apartment with bad credit means they will automatically be denied, but this is simply not the case. There are strategies that we can provide to help our clients when bad credit is an issue. This does not mean choosing a cheap apartment, and we can work with you and our network of apartment communities and landlords to find just the right place for you to live. How to Get Approved for an Apartment with Bad Credit? Getting an apartment with bad credit means understanding why bad credit is an issue. Most landlords consider a fair credit score, which is a minimum of 620, acceptable. You do not need a credit score of 700 hundred or above to qualify for a luxury apartment in the city or the surrounding areas. When submitting your application, be sure to list your employer and any rental history information. A great strategy is to ask a past landlord for a letter of recommendation and attach it to the apartment application. Proof of on-time and full utility payments is another way to show you are a reliable tenant. At Apartment and Home Solutions, we also have access to low-credit apartments. These are complexes or landlords willing and able to rent to applicants with lower credit scores by providing other creditworthiness documentation. For assistance in obtaining a great apartment with low or bad credit, give us a call at 602-404-3900 , and we can get started.

Spring in Desert Phoenix,AZ

Springtime is a great time of year here to take advantage of the comfortable temperatures outside and find some fun outdoor activities to enjoy. Spring Training is the “big deal” this time of year here in Phoenix. There are so many places to catch a game, no matter where you are in the Valley you wont have to travel far. You can buy lawn seating and bring a blanket, grab a hotdog, and enjoy a picnic while you watch the game. Even if your'e not a baseball fan (me), there is plenty of people watching and it’s a fun way to spend the day outdoors and soak up some sun! Spring is the season for festivals here and the options are endless. My Nana’s Salsa Challenge, Scottsdale Culinary Festival, the FRIED: French Fry & Music Festival, just to name a few. You can check out visitphoenix.com for the rundown on all that’s happening, including ticket prices, dates and times. Of course, I have to mention hiking when talking about taking advantage of the weather this time of year! Thunderbird Conservation Park, Piestewa Peak Trails, Papago Park and Camelback Mountain are some favorites. I love being by the water on a sunny day, and Scorpion Bay Marina at Lake Pleasant is a gem. You can grab a bite to eat and a cocktail on the pier, rent boats, jet skis, kayaks, etc., you can even camp at the lake! Just chill and enjoy the change of scenery. Being that we are in the desert and landlocked, its refreshing to spend time at the water. Lastly, I try to take a camping trip at least once a year, and were coming up on a good time weather-wise to make it happen. You don’t want to freeze through the night, and you don’t want to have heat stroke during the day. Sedona is one of my favorites, and I always try to camp on a river so there is plenty to do during the day, like fishing, wading, exploring, and just enjoying the relaxing sound of the river. If you’ve never heard of Lo Lo Mai Springs Campground in Cornville, you should check it out at Lolomai.com . Especially if your group is more of the glamping type. They have extra large tent camping spots, real bathrooms (not the portable type), and even private showers. There is a little store onsite, a pool, and they even have cabins to rent! With all of these great opportunities, I hope Ive inspired you to make some plans and just get out there!

Spring in Desert Phoenix,AZ

Recently we were contacted by a real estate agent in California. He was helping working with a client to find housing here in Arizona. This client, Sylvia, is a lovely lady in her 80’s, never married, no children, yet she had decided to sell her condo in Oceanside, CA to start a new life here in the Valley! She had never been here and didn’t even know anyone here! Without family or friends here, she really needed some extra help to make this move possible. During this process of helping Sylvia find a place to call home, we came into contact with a group of people, all of us working together to help Ms. Sylvia. Her Agent, Todd Bell , really went out of his way, arranging many things on her behalf, including obtaining and orchestrating moving company details. Her Financial Advisor, Andrea , worked with me to make sure Sylvia could find a comfortable place to live within a predetermined budget. Andrea clearly had Sylvia’s best interests at heart. The moving company, One Stop Moving & Storage , stayed in contact with myself and Todd, keeping us informed on their arrival time. The movers even went out of their way, helping Sylvia dispose of boxes and arranging her furniture for her! The Apartment Manager at Fireside East, Edd , was so accommodating and friendly! I am so grateful that we met and have found a friend in him. We all worked together and went above and beyond to help Sylvia. She keeps thanking me, but really, we should be thanking her! W’re fortunate to have been given this opportunity and have developed friendships that, had it not been for Sylvia, would never have happened. I hope this little story inspires you to be available to strangers in need. To be open to connecting with people! To lend a helping hand. You may find yourself with amazing new friends and a warm fuzzy feeling in your heart!
